South Yarra is an inner-city suburb in Melbourne, located approximately 4 km southeast of the CBD. It is divided between the Cities of Melbourne and Stonnington local government areas. According to the 2021 census, South Yarra has a population of 25,028, with a median age of 33. The suburb is known for its trendy and upmarket shopping, dining, and nightlife. The main commercial areas are Toorak Road and Chapel Street, which offer a wide range of trendy shops, restaurants, and cafes. The area along Commercial Road was historically one of Melbourne's gay villages. South Yarra is also home to some of Melbourne's most prestigious residential addresses. The suburb features grand historic mansions, heritage terraces, and high-end apartments. Notable landmarks include Como House, Royal South Yarra Tennis Club, Prahran Market, and the Melbourne High School.
