Scoresby is a suburb located 29 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, within the City of Knox local government area. It has a population of 6,066 according to the 2021 census. The suburb was named after the Arctic explorer William Scoresby, who visited the area in the 1850s. Scoresby has a rich history, with a township developing in the 1870s. The area was known for its market gardens, particularly being the Brussels sprout capital of Victoria during the 1950s. Present-day Scoresby is home to a number of extensive industrial estates, housing major national and international corporations. It also offers recreational activities such as Caribbean Gardens, an entertainment precinct and market, where visitors can buy and sell products, enjoy food and drinks, and listen to live music. Scoresby has two primary schools, Scoresby Primary School and St. Judes, as well as Scoresby Secondary College for secondary education. The suburb experiences an oceanic climate with subtropical influences. Scoresby has its own Australian Rules football team, the Scoresby Magpies, and a cricket club, the Scoresby Cricket Club. The suburb's shopping precinct, Scoresby Village, offers a supermarket and various small stores.
