Mont Albert North is a suburb located 13 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, within the City of Whitehorse local government area. According to the 2021 census, the suburb has a population of 5,609, with a median age of 43. The suburb is bordered by the Eastern Freeway to the north, Kenmare Street to the south, Elgar Road to the east, and a series of back streets near Union Road to the west. It was originally called Mont Albert North, then renamed Box Hill North, and later renamed back to Mont Albert North. One notable landmark in Mont Albert North is the milk bar, which has been a popular meeting place for young adults in the area. In 2008, the milk bar was featured in the soap opera Neighbours and has since been re-constructed into a café called "Matilda." For education, there are several schools in the area, including Koonung Secondary College and Box Hill Senior Secondary College. The Box Hill University of the Third Age is also located nearby. Mont Albert North is a leafy suburb with convenient access to Westfield Doncaster and Box Hill Central. It is well-connected to public transport with the Eastern Freeway and nearby train stations.
