Frankston North, also known as "The Pines", is a pleasant suburb located 38 km southeast of Melbourne's Central Business District. The suburb covers an area of approximately 5.2 km2. Frankston North is characterized by low-scale dwellings set in gardens, with open street scapes and low or open-style fencing. Most of the homes were constructed in the 1960s-1970s by the Housing Commission of Victoria and are predominantly single-story brick veneer with cement tiled roofs. The suburb recorded a population of 5,711 in the 2021 census, with a median age of 37. It is home to several public facilities and amenities, including the Frankston North Community Centre, Monterey Secondary College, Pines Flora and Fauna Reserve, Frankston Pines Football Club, Pines Australian Rules Football Club, Pines Forest Swimming Centre, and the Rotary Club of Frankston North. Frankston North has two retail shopping strips, Excelsior shops, and The Pines Forest Shopping Centre, offering a range of services and amenities. The suburb is serviced by two bus lines for public transport, and there are no direct access rail services in the area.
