Eynesbury

VIC 3338
Eynesbury, located 44 km west of Melbourne's CBD, is a suburb with a rich history and natural beauty. The area was named after the town in the United Kingdom where Simon Staughton was born in 1797. The Eynesbury Homestead, constructed in 1872, is a grand landmark and has been restored as a Place of State Significance. The suburb is home to one of Victoria's largest remaining grey box forests, which is registered with the National Estate and contains endangered species such as the migratory swift parrot and diamond firetail. Eynesbury faced controversy due to the approval of a large residential development in a 'Green Wedge Zone', with concerns raised about the impact on flora and fauna. The development proceeded after it was determined that it did not require approval from the Commonwealth. The suburb continues to undergo development with approximately 948 lots as of late 2020. In terms of recreation, Eynesbury features an 18-hole golf course and a newly constructed recreational reserve, which is home to the Eynesbury Cricket Club and Eynesbury Football Club. The area is also known for its bushfire risk, classified as high by local authorities. With a population of 2,838 and a median age of 35 according to the 2021 census, Eynesbury offers a unique blend of history, natural beauty, and recreational opportunities for residents to enjoy.
