Campbellfield is a suburb located 13 km north of Melbourne's Central Business District. It is part of the City of Hume local government area and recorded a population of 4,977 at the 2021 census. The suburb has a rich history, with its name originating from two unrelated families named Campbell who bought farm lots in the area in the 1840s. Today, Campbellfield is a mixed residential and industrial/business suburb. It was previously home to the Ford Australia's Broadmeadows Assembly Plant, which closed in 2016. The suburb is known for its various industrial areas and business parks. It has one public school, Campbellfield Heights Primary School, but no private or secondary schools. In terms of amenities, Campbellfield has a strip of shops on Barry Road known as Fordgate and a shopping plaza on Sydney Road. The suburb also boasts the oldest church in East Broadmeadows, the Scots church, which was built in 1842 and is considered an icon of Victorian history. Transportation in Campbellfield is convenient with six bus routes and one railway station, Upfield, which is the terminus of the Upfield line. The suburb is well-connected to neighboring areas and the city center.
